Doha, Qatar: Two Asian Elephants have arrived at Al Khor Park, announced the Ministry of Municipality.
It added that the elephants are a gift from the government and people of the friendly Republic of Nepal. The gift symbolises the depth of bilateral relations and the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
This initiative comes in implementation of the gift announced during the official visit of the Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to the Republic of Nepal in 2024.
The two elephants - one male and one female - were born at the Elephant Breeding and Training Center in Sauraha, Chitwan National Park. While both animals are dark grey in colour, the female, named Rudra Kali, is seven years old and weighs 1,200kg and the male, Khagendra Prasad, is six years old and weights 1,190kg.
The Ministry, in a press statement, added that the pair of elephants were transferred to their new residence at Al Khor Park immediately upon their arrival on the evening of, Wednesday, December 17, 2025.
It further noted that the gifted elephants are highly trained and capable of positive interaction with their environment and the public, in addition to their ability to adapt quickly.
This will contribute to enhancing the educational, tourism, and recreational value of Al Khor Park, and elevate the overall experience offered to visitors.
