Beirut: An Israeli air raid has killed a senior figure in the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah, Samir Kuntar, near the Syrian capital, the group said.
Kuntar was convicted by Israel of the 1979 murder of three civilians, including a little girl, but was freed in 2008 as part of a prisoner swap.
He was killed on Saturday night "when the Zionist enemy planes bombed the building where he lived in Jaramana," southeast of Damascus, Hezbollah said in a statement.
