DOHA: The first edition of Saturday Night Showdown organised byCrossFit ERADA, a CrossFit affiliate founded by Qataris, saw 60 athletes, including 10 citizens, participate in fitness competitions.
Held on multi-purpose courts of Sheraton Doha Hotel, the competition, supported by the Ministry of Youth and Sports was one of an exciting new series of fitness contests that focuses on participants’ fitness, endurance and concentration.
Every participant performed customised consecutive exercises and weightlifting and had a judge who award points on their performance.
Abdulla Al Matwi, one of the founders of CrossFit ERADA, said: “The first edition of Saturday Night Showdown accomplished huge success and good feedback from players and the community. It is a first step to spread this sport among youth. We are pleased with the participation of such a big number, including Qataris, and we call all to be part of the second edition.
“It is not just a physical show, but also a drive for competition and challenge. It is a good platform to promote sports, healthy lifestyle and self-confidence”.
The second edition will be held on December 19.
