Doha: Qatar Lawyers Association (QLA) will host International Sports Conference on October 26, under the patronage of H E Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmad Al Thani, President of Qatar Football Association (QFA), at the Grand Hyatt Doha Hotel.
With the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 just around a month away, organising the conference represents a social responsibility on the part of QLA as well as the supporting and participating parties. The World Cup will be played on Qatari soil for the first time. The efforts began with a unique design, followed by an innovative implementation, culminating in these unique masterpieces.
Having reached a height of preparation for the anticipated event, Qatar has been able to demonstrate its facilities, institutions, legal legislation and infrastructure, which are all interconnected and complement one another in a manner that is well suited to the event. From the logistical, legal, and strategic perspectives, Qatar will show its readiness to host the FIFA World Cup 2022 and its future plans.
It is the ultimate purpose of the conference to highlight and recognise the efforts of Qatar and its institutions in preparing for World Cup by recognising the government’s efforts and its institutions. It is important to note that all institutions have contributed to this, but their positive contribution in this area does not end there.
In addition, the sessions in the conference cover all institutions that contribute to highlighting and recognising these efforts, and several organisations and companies have taken the initiative to sponsor and support this conference, including QNB, the conference’s platinum sponsor.
In addition to being a primary supporter of Qatar National Vision 2030’s objectives, QNB is always eager to support efforts and initiatives made by institutions and national bodies to ensure the success of the World Cup.
QNB Group, currently ranked as the most valuable bank brand in the Middle East and Africa, is proud to be the Official Middle East and Africa Supporter of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. The conference strategic partners Qatar International Court and Qatar International Center for Conciliation and Arbitration have made significant contributions to the success of the organisation process for this important football event.
Among the prestigious institutions that will be participating in the conference are the Qatar Tourism Authority as bronze sponsor. The media partners of the conference include Dar Al Sharq Media Group, Al Kass Sports Channels, KON Group and BeIN Sports Group. The cultural supporters of the conference are Katara Cultural Village and College of Law – Qatar University who shown a great support to reach this level of readiness.
Qatar has been able to reach the level of readiness today due to a number of institutions, notably the Public Works Authority, Ministry of Transport and Communications, and the organisations that contributed to the development of sports initiatives. Additionally, Katara Cultural Village Foundation will be present during the conference to provide information regarding the programmes and events that Katara intends to hold during the World Cup. All of this will be discussed in the session titled “Qatar’s Readiness to Host the FIFA World Cup 2022”.
A number of the sessions will recognise the tangible efforts of facilities, infrastructure, and events, as well as updates to the sports law which will be reflected in the FIFA World Cup 2022 when representatives of sports bodies, academics involved in the sports field, as well as legal arbitrators will present their perspectives on the topic to reflect the title, “The Latest Updates in Sports Law”.
An event such as the World Cup will probably provide an opportunity for those wishing to exploit the event, in terms of intellectual property rights, whether intentionally or unintentionally.
The third session titled “Exclusive Rights for the FIFA World Cup 2022” will take place with the participation of legal experts from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, beIN Sports and lawyers with extensive experience in this field.
To the question what will happen after the World Cup? What are the short-term and long-term visions for Qatar? Will there be major international events in the near future, similar to the World Cup? Will there be any legal or financial disputes following the end of the World Cup for construction companies, services and contractors? There are a number of questions, and each tends to lead in a particular direction, but the alleged question is one, which is, what happens after the FIFA World Cup 2022?
In response to the questions generated, representatives from the Qatar International Court, Qatar Tourism Authority, QNB, and Qatar Strategic Planning Department at the Office of H E the Prime Minister will be participating at the conference’s closing session, entitled “Qatar’s Vision for Beyond FIFA World Cup 2022”.
