Doha: To mark this year’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month, IDAM, one of Qatar Museums’ flagship restaurants, is partnering with Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) and Qatar Cancer Society (QCS) to inspire the local community to ‘Think Pink.’

This collaboration seeks to raise awareness, provide advice, insight, encouragement, and increase donations to Qatar’s leading cancer charity.

Throughout October, IDAM by  Alain Ducasse will offer a special pink-themed lunch and dinner menu. Female guests will be able to enjoy at 15 percent discount. Additionally, diners can make a quick and convenient donation to QCS via a digital link on display at every table. IDAM’s social media platforms will feature practical advice and insight from doctors from HMC, along with inspirational stories from cancer survivors in an effort to encourage knowledge sharing and practical advice from HMC doctors.

“Breast cancer is a health concern for women worldwide, and the impact it has on the community is huge. However, breast cancer treatment has become very effective, and the cure rate is reaching 95 percent of cases if detected early. While most people are aware of breast cancer, many forget to take steps to have a plan to detect the disease in its early stages and encourage others to do the same.

“HMC’s healthcare professionals and leaders are committed to continually improving services and collaborating with other entities in the country such as IDAM and Qatar Cancer Society to raise awareness and broaden women’s understanding on breast cancer. The ultimate goal is to best meet their needs now and in the future,” said Dr. Salha Bujassoum Al Bader, Chairperson of Medical Oncology and Palliative Care Medicine, Director of Breast Cancer Program at HMC.

Mona Ashknani, General Manager of  Qatar Cancer Society, praised the initiative of its restaurant partner, IDAM, and pointed out its potential “to strengthen efforts to combat cancer and raise awareness about it.”

“To fight cancer we need to organise awareness programmes in corporation with all organisation across Qatar and we should do that continually and not link the awareness to a specific time period,” she added,

Local influencers, media, and doctors from HMC were also invited to a lunch event that introduced them to the menu and promotion at the IDAM. The event encouraged all parties to spread the word about this vital initiative and the information provided throughout October.

Phil Lawrie, General Manager of IN-Q Enterprises, Qatar Museums’ commercial organisation, said: “We are extremely pleased to be supporting such an important cause. We aim to bring attention to the work of HMC and Qatar Cancer Society and utilise their insight and knowledge to provide advice and inspiration to help our local community.

“Our restaurant staff is showing solidarity with the cause — wearing a pink ribbon to remind guests of this annual initiative and encouraging guests to donate to Qatar Cancer Society when they dine at IDAM.”

Alongside its à la carte menu, IDAM’s Pink Lunch Experience Menu and Pink Dinner Experience menu enables diners to enjoy dishes such as grilled foie-gras, oven-baked duckling with figs and chestnuts, and milk pastilla with rose and raspberry.  The 3-course Pink Lunch Experience Menu is available every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday from 12.30pm to 2.30pm and is QR250 or QR212.5, with ladies’ discount. The 5-course Pink Dinner Experience Menu is available every day except Mondays from 700pm to 9.30pm and is QR350 or QR297.5 with ladies’ discount.
