DOHA: Qatar Airways (QA), in partnership with Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) Blood Bank, held its annual blood donation campaign at the airline’s head office.
This is the fourth year QA has partnered with Blood Bank to help provide the gift of life for those with emergency blood needs.
QA staff, who met the strict donor criteria, were encouraged to donate as part of the company’s commitment to give back to the local community. The campaign saw over 40 percent increase in staff donor volunteers from 2013.
QA Group Chief Executive, Akbar Al Baker, said: “I am pleased to see just how many of our staff turned out to support the campaign. By supporting the hard work of the Blood Bank, we are also supporting our local community and helping address the emergency needs of all those that call this great city home.”
The QA Group Medical Services team has played a key role in the yearly campaign since it partnered with the Blood Bank four years ago.
During this year’s campaign, staff, including the head of Medical Services, as well as administrative and nursing employees, were on hand to supervise, answer questions, register candidates, and assess suitability for donation as well as guide volunteers through the process.
