Doha: As a step to honour the frontline workers battling COVID-19 in Qatar and to express gratitude, former Birla Public School student Riya Mahajan decided to go the old school way of writing letters to healthcare workers.

The 17-year-old who is heading to Purdue University this fall decided to start a letter writing campaign to thank the staff at the HMC.

"Children, youngsters and adults could write letters, notes or even drawings for these workers. These handwritten notes are scanned and sent to the hospital which is then forwarded to the healthcare staff," Riya told The Peninsula

"My father is a doctor and I understand the hard work these professionals put in to fight the pandemic," she adds.

Riya has already received many letters and drawings. She plans to approach schools and colleges who might be interested to be part of the project.

Riya adds that citizens and residents interested in this initiative can pen their thoughts, scan the letters and send them through email to [email protected].
