DOHA: Aster Hospital received Best Poster Award from the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) during the 4th Qatar Patient Safety Week (QPSW) activities.
The announcement and award was presented during opening of QPSW held at Hotel Sheraton.
Under the patronage of H E Dr Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari, Minister of Public Health organised the 4th QPSW. It’s a national initiative created by the HealthCare Quality and Patient Safety Department (HQPS) as a conduit to raise awareness and spread the concepts of patient safety among all healthcare providers as well as the public across Qatar. Dr Sameer Moopen, CEO of Aster DM Healthcare Qatar, said, “We are extremely happy to receive this award from MoPH. With all the initiatives highlighting patient safety, backed by evidenced-based research, it is imperative we as healthcare workers practice what we preach in order to ensure safety in healthcare.” “At every process we are putting our efforts to implement safe system. To quote in recent past we are hearing from patients that why at Aster we are made to undergo nurse’s assessment before we consult the doctor. I would like to assure you that it is done to ensure patient acuity & safety is assessed and necessary precaution are taken to prevent any adverse event,” he added.
The theme for this year is “Patient Safety from Book to Bedside”, which was selected to address the gap between theory and practice. Aster DM Healthcare Qatar is conducting weeklong activities across all Aster Medical Centers and Aster Hospital since September 13. The events focus on educating and engaging healthcare professionals and the public through a series of activities and initiatives. The inaugural ceremony of the activities organised was held at Aster Hospital.
The event put a spotlight on the official launch of three paramount initiatives created and being rolled out in Aster. The launch was graced by guests from the MoPH including Dr Rasha Bushra Nusr, Dr Nader Ahmed Abbas Badr and Christian Jay Briones Vale.
