Doha: The Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani sent a cable of condolence and sympathy to President Park Geun-hye of the Republic of Korea on the victims of the ferry that sank off the coast of South Korea. The Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani sent a similar cable.
Doha: The Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani held yesterday a telephone call with Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika during which the Emir congratulated him on his re-election as President of Algeria and wished him success and for the Algerian people more progress and prosperity. During the phone call, they also reviewed bilateral relations and means to enhance them.
Doha: Qatar yesterday strongly denounced a car bombing that targeted civil defence personnel in Al Qaryia area in Bahrain. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that this crime runs counter to all humanitarian and moral values. The statement stressed Qatar’s firm position renouncing violence in all its forms and manifestations, and whatever its source and motivation. The statement also expressed Qatar’s condolences to the Kingdom of Bahrain and to the families of the victims who fell in the attack, and wishing a swift recovery to those injured.
Doha: The Supreme Education Council (SEC) has announced the start of the implementation of registration and enrollment plan of students in independent schools for the new academic year 2014/2015. In a press release, the Council said in order to facilitate the registration process the plan has been divided into four phases: Early registration (automatic transfer), registration of brothers, registration of new entrants and registration in accordance with vacancies. The early registration (automatic transfer ) includes all primary students, successful students of Grade 6 and Grade 9 only, from all nationalities. This phase, which began on April 17, will end on April 21 and schools should inform the guardian about the name of the school to which his son will be transferred in the next academic year in accordance with the SEC approved distribution plan.
Doha: A delegation from the Milipol Qatar Committee and Milipol de Paris visited Malaysia Defence Services Asia 2014 exhibition held last week in Kuala Lumpur. The delegation’s visit comes amid preparations for Milipol Qatar 2014, which in its 10th session, is scheduled to be held from October 20 to 22 at Doha Exhibition Centre. The Qatari delegation included Brigadier Nasser bin Fahad Al Thani, Chairman of the Milipol Committee, and Brigadier Saud Rashid Al Shafi, member of the Committee, as well as Director of the Milipol Paris Michael Weatherseed.
