DOHA: The annual Qatar International Food Festival (QIFF) opens tonight at Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) Park.
With an expected rush of visitors, organisers are providing free shuttle service between the venue and two parking lots.
The shuttle service is set to ease traffic to and from the venue during the four-day event.
The first shuttle bus pick-up is located close to Al Bidda Park, and the second near Al Sharq.
Signage will be placed along both routes to help motorists identify and locate the parking lots. Organisers recommend making use of the service to avoid being caught in traffic near MIA Park.
The shuttle service will run tonight from 5.30pm to 11pm, tomorrow (1.30pm to 11pm), on Saturday (noon to 10pm) and Sunday (1.30pm to 10pm).
At the festival, visitors can explore the Healthy & Active Zone, Snack Zone, Family Zone and Qatar Brazil Zone and may indulge in delicious options, including ice cream, pastries, salads, a relaxing cup of coffee or take in a performance of traditional Brazilian dance.
The popular Dinner in the Sky is next to the main stage, giving diners an opportunity to take in the fantastic aerial views of the Doha skyline and the festival while dining 40 metres above ground.
Dinner in the Sky, sponsored by the Renaissance Hotel, consists of a three-course meal made up of an appetizer, main course and dessert.
Visitors can also enjoy a Dinner on a Dhow, sponsored by the Souq Waqif Boutique Hotels, or BBQ Donut, sponsored by the Diplomatic Club, both of which are in the Water Zone.
The Qatar Airways Cooking Theatre in the Live Cooking Zone will be home to award-winning celebrity TV chef, Ramzi Choueiri, from Lebanon who will perform demonstrations for avid ‘foodies’ in Doha.
And Chef Aysha Al Tamimi will be on hand to demonstrate her culinary skills in Qatari cuisine.
This year will also see chefs preparing international, Italian and Brazilian cuisine for those looking to pick up tips on expanding their culinary repertoire.
