Doha: The General Directorate of Traffic of the Ministry of Interior (MoI) has stated that it has arrested the driver of a truck that was driving against the traffic, as seen on a viral social media post.
In a statement on their official Twitter account, the Traffic Directorate said, "After the issue circulated on social media, the ministry announced that the truck and its driver had been seized, and legal measures were being taken against him."
It will be recalled that a car driver found himself in a legal battle last month after authorities seized his car for recklessly drifting on Qatar’s public roads.
The driver was detained and faced legal action after cameras caught him in the act, the General Directorate of Traffic announced.
As per Qatari law, reckless driving can lead to the seizure of the vehicle for 3 months and a fine. In some cases, the case is forwarded to the public prosecution.
