Attorney-General H E Dr. Ali bin Fetais Al Marri
Geneva: The United Nations has selected Attorney-General H E Dr. Ali bin Fetais Al Marri as a member of the Board of Trustees of the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR).
UNITAR was established in 1963 with the aim of enhancing the capabilities of member states through high-quality educational solutions and related knowledge products and services. It trains more than 130,000 individuals annually around the world, with the largest proportion of trainees coming from developing countries, as UNITAR’s strategy and work program are tightly aligned with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
As the governing body of the institute, the Council sets policies and principles to regulate the institutes activities and operations. It also considers and approves the work program and approves the budget.
The Council is composed of a diverse group of high-ranking individuals serving in their personal capacity, and is currently chaired by H E Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Ecuador Luis Gallegos.
The Attorney-General had been chosen as a Special Advocate on Asset Recovery, then a UN Special Advocate Against Corruption, as well as being re-elected for the fourth time recently to the membership of the UN law commission.
