Attorney-General, H E Dr. Ali bin Fattis Al Marri, leading the State of Qatar’s delegation during the 12th meeting of attorney generals, public prosecutors, and heads of investigation and prosecution bodies of GCC countries.
The State of Qatar participated yesterday, via video conferencing, in the 12th meeting of attorney generals, public prosecutors, and heads of investigation and prosecution bodies of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC).
Attorney-General, H E Dr. Ali bin Fattis Al Marri, headed the State of Qatar’s delegation to the meeting.
The meeting reviewed several topics on the agenda, notably the amendment to the rules for cooperation between the public prosecution offices and the attorney generals offices.
Also, it discussed the proposal to prepare a draft guide on procedural controls for modern technology crimes, in addition to reviewing many topics, including completing the project of organising the public prosecution and the attorney generals services in the GCC, the rules for child protection during the investigation phase and the mechanism for conducting the procedures of members of the public prosecution offices in the GCC countries.
During the meeting, they reviewed the experience of the State of Qatar in establishing the Health Prosecution, as the state has worked over the past years to develop and introduce laws in various fields to achieve the Qatar National Vision 2030, as the Health Prosecution comes in line with this vision as well as in the framework of combating the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
In March, the Attorney General Dr. Ali bin Fetais Al Marri issued a decision to establish the Health Prosecution, which is a precedent for the State of Qatar in the world, as part of the precautionary and preventive measures taken by the state to preserve public health and community safety, as the Health Prosecution was formed with a specialised legal and judicial cadres and experts specialising in health crimes, which leads to speed up the litigation process in this field.
The Health Prosecution role is not limited to the COVID-19 pandemic, as the Health Prosecution will contribute to protecting human health in the State of Qatar, and it will also work overtime to establish public prosecutors specialised in medical, cosmetic, and other errors cases.
