DOHA: The World Innovation Summit for Health (WISH), a global initiative of Qatar Foundation (QF), will host a webinar to discuss a report published by the UK’s Royal College of Physicians identifying how hospital services can adapt to meet the needs of patients now and in the future.
The webinar ‘Exploring the future hospital’, will take place on October 20, as part of the ‘Safer Care Accelerator’ series of Leading Health Systems Network (LHSN), a WISH initiative that shares best practice and inspires global health systems to provide safer care for patients.
The webinar will focus on key challenges facing health systems.
Dr Mark Temple, Consultant Physician and Nephrologist, Heart of England Foundation Trust, Birmingham, will during the online session discuss the report, ‘Future Hospital: Caring For Medical Patients’, published in 2013 by the college that represents over 30,000 physicians.
Considered highly influential, the report prompted the college to establish the ‘Future Hospital Programme’ to implement its recommendations.
Sue Latchem, Lead for the programme, will also speak during the seminar, where attendees will explore the role the report has had in influencing healthcare provision in the UK.
The year-long Safer Care Accelerator Programme will bring together a global network of healthcare organisations to exchange insights, experiences, and data on patient safety, culminating in a global report.
So far, 18 organisations from six continents have joined the effort, including Hamad Medical Corporation and Sidra Medical and Research Centre.
The programme is part of WISH and Imperial College London’s LHSN initiative.
Established in 2009, LHSN has worked with 21 health systems in 11 countries, helping them overcome challenges they face in providing high-value care to the populations they serve.
LHSN members compare performance relative to their peers, learn from experts and frontline implementers during webinars and are active members in a community committed to care improvement and innovation.
