Cairo, Egypt: The Arab League has condemned the Israeli strike on the Abu Al-Duhur airbase in Syria's Idlib province on Tuesday, describing it as a blatant violation of Syrian sovereignty and international law and another escalation in Israel's repeated attacks on Syria and other countries in the region.
In a statement Wednesday, Arab League Secretary-General Nabil Fahmy described the Israeli attacks as provocative, unjustified and wholly unacceptable, accusing Israel of seeking to spread chaos and expand the areas of conflict and confrontation in Syria and Lebanon to serve the political interests of its prime minister at the expense of regional security and stability.
He called on the international community and the UN Security Council to assume their responsibilities and press Israel to halt the attacks, warning that continued escalation could lead to further chaos and violence in the region.
