JOHANNESBURG: South African President Jacob Zuma has been discharged from hospital after a successful operation to remove gall stones, the presidency said Sunday.
The 73-year-old was hospitalized late Saturday. The gall stones were discovered during a routine check-up two months ago, and a recess in parliament and the government provided an opportunity for the procedure to be performed now, a statement from the presidential office said.
"The president will spend the next few days resting and recuperating at home," it said. "He will also work from home during this period."
Last year, Zuma was hospitalized after May parliamentary elections.
