Iran officially announces Ebrahim Raisi as new president

Tehran: Iran's Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani-Fazli announced on Saturday that Ebrahim Raisi has been elected the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran after obtaining 17,926,345 votes out of the total 28,933,004 ballots.

In a press conference on Saturday, Rahmani-Fazli announced Raisi's victory after obtaining 17,926,345 votes, followed by other candidates Mohsen Rezaei Mirqaed with 3,412,712 votes, Abdolnaser Hemmati with 2,427,201 votes, and Amir-Hossein Ghazizadeh 999,718 votes.

The Iranian Interior Minister added that the participation rate was 48.8 percent, stressing that after counting all the votes, candidate Ebrahim Raisi received 17,926,345 votes.
