Doha: Yaccine Brahimi is confident Al Rayyan can overcome UAE’s Sharjah when the two sides meet in their AFC Champions League 2022 Group A match at the King Fahd International Stadium today.
Both teams have four points from three matches with Sharjah ahead on goal difference and a win for either side will be crucial in their road towards qualifying for the next stage.
Al Rayyan have scored four goals and conceded six, but Brahimi is adamant that the Qatari club can secure a win against Sharjah.
“We have played three matches and it has been exhausting,”said Brahimi.
“But we have got on with our preparations well after our draw with Sharjah and now we have to shift our focus to face them again. The players will put in all the hard work to achieve the victory.
“For us it’s very simple. We want to create history by beating Sharjah for the first time and the players are motivated and ready to give it their all. It is a chance for us to create history for Al Rayyan, I’m very confident of that and we must not lose focus.”
Al Rayyan coach Nicolás Córdova said: "The players are recovering well after the physical match against Sharjah but we are raring to go again,” said Córdova.
“Both teams will be aiming to avoid the same mistakes from the previous match but I believe in my players and I know they want to win this match. We must be focused and not make the same mistakes as we did before," he added.
