Jerusalem: A Palestinian crashed a car into a bus stop at a tense junction in the occupied West Bank on Wednesday, wounding one person before soldiers opened fire and killed the assailant, Israel's military said.
The wounded civilian was taken for medical treatment, the army said. Medics said he was a 60-year-old man with a head injury.
The incident occurred at a major junction near the Gush Etzion bloc of Israeli settlements in the West Bank outside Jerusalem.
The junction has seen a series of similar incidents.
A wave of unrest which erupted in October 2015 has claimed the lives of 261 Palestinians, 41 Israelis, two Americans, one Jordanian, an Eritrean, a Sudanese and a Briton, according to an AFP count.
Most of the Palestinians killed were carrying out knife, gun or car-ramming attacks, the Israeli authorities say.
Others were shot dead during protests or clashes, while some were killed in Israeli air strikes on the Gaza Strip.
The violence has greatly subsided in recent months.
