Coinciding with the appointment of Dr Eddy Tukamushaba (pictured), an international expert in service quality, hospitality education and destination branding, Stenden University Qatar (SUQ) looks to roll out its new service quality assurance certification later this year. At SUQ Dr Tukamushaba will be involved in the new comprehensive service management training programme that aims to instil a superior service mindset across multiple sectors.
Stenden University Qatar Executive Dean, Professor Robert Coelen said: “We are delighted to welcome Dr Eddy Tukamushaba to join our expanding team. Qatar has great ambitions for the growth of its tourism sector and SUQ can support this development through high-quality, strategic research and training to create and maintain service standards of excellence across all sectors in Qatar. Qatar PLUS is a strategic initiative Stenden is driving to deliver superior hospitality in services that interact with visitors to Qatar. With Qatar PLUS, we hope to engage all businesses in Qatar in a bid to protect investment in the country by ensuring an impressive visitor experience for tourists and Dr Tukamushaba will have a central role in its delivery.”
Qatar PLUS will include four major elements. These will combine service training in the application of service standards to make visitors feel welcome from the moment they touch down, with the provision of a universal Wi-Fi connection to simplify a visitor’s stay in the country. In addition, the latest mobile technology will provide current information on what is on offer in Qatar with the ability to book events, meals, hotels or transport. Finally, the initiative will include defining Qatar’s web presence to reflect its cultural and sports heritage to enthuse visitors before they arrive.
Dr Tukamushaba said: “It is a great honour to join SUQ at such a watershed moment for tourism and hospitality in Qatar and the Gulf region, which will witness unprecedented growth and Stenden University Qatar will be at the heart of this development. I have already been impressed with the quality of the students here and I am looking forward to implementing crucial programmes like Qatar PLUS which will help position Qatar as a regional hub of tourism with service quality at the top of the agenda.”The Peninsula
