World Cancer Day Sports Festival on Friday

DOHA: The Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) and the Qatar Cancer Society (QCS) will host the World Cancer Day Sports Festival on Friday.

The festival will be held at Al Refaa Street in coordination with the QOC, Museum of Islamic Art, Qtel, Qatar Airways and Masraf Al Rayan.

The festival will include running and cycling competitions to be held in cooperation with the Qatar Association of Athletics Federation and the Qatar Cycling Federation with up to QR31,000 in prize money. 

Participants can take part in running competitions in four categories: 10 to 15-year-old boys for 3km; 16 to 40 years for 5km; older than 41 men for 5km; and 18 to 40 years women for 3km.

The cycling competitions are 10 to 15 year old boys for 3km and eight to 12-year-old girls for 3km.

The QOC said it was delighted with its partnership with the QCS and applauded the efforts of the QCS to prevent the spread of cancer. The QOC also affirmed its keenness on participating in all activities which aim at raising awareness about the importance of a healthy lifestyle.
