Children’s Day was celebrated with great gusto and a range of fun filled activities on November 14 by the staff and students of Doha Modern Indian School (DMIS). The students had the rare treat of getting to see their teachers perform for them at the morning assembly. The programmes started with a sarod rendering by the music teacher Abhik Kumar Sarkar. It was followed by a solo mime by Santanu Mallik, the theatre teacher and a song by Smitha N P, the science teacher. The highlight of the day was the teacher’s dance which took the students by surprise. They couldn’t help appreciating the grace and rhythm of their movement and the talent which was so far unknown to them. The KG and primary teachers were fascinated by their teacher who dressed up as Chacha Nehru and greeted them lovingly.
The matches between the teachers and students witnessed the height of enthusiasm. Teachers team were the winners in the ladies’ tug-of-war but the football match between the male staff and senior students ended in a draw. The food fiesta organised by students of grades 9-12 crowned the festivity of the day. It was an array of Indian, Italian, Chinese, Arabic cuisines and confectionaries of all sorts.
