Doha: The Arabic Language Association was inaugurated on Sunday to become one of the cultural associations in Qatar.

Specialised in supporting and advancing the Arabic language, it will strengthen identity through consolidating the use of the Arabic language, spreading awareness of its importance and enhancing its use in coordination with the competent authorities in the country.

Minister of Social Development and Family H E Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad handed over a certificate of registration and publicity of the association to Dr. Maryam Abdul Rahman Al Nuaimi, chairperson of the temporary committee of the Arabic Language Association, and Abdul Aziz Abdul Rahim Al Sayed, a member of the committee.

The Minister of Social Development and Family directed to activate the association’s activity through programmes and activities that serve the community in a way that contributes to raising the status of the Arabic language and advancing it as part of the cultural identity.

The association prioritises the innovation and implementation of initiatives and activities that contribute to the dissemination of the Arabic language in Qatar, by raising efficiency, refining the skills and developing the capabilities of those interested in the Arabic language, in addition to strengthening the relationship between the association and the local community and developing the spirit of cooperation between them.
