DOHA: The 2nd edition of the Katara European jazz festival will start from November 28 and will continue till November 1. This was announced on Sunday during a press conference jointly organized by the cultural Village Foundation-Katara and the embassies of Austria, France, Germany, Netherlands, Italy, Spain and Switzerland.

The general manager of cultural village foundation-Katara, Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim al Sulaiti said: “As an international genre of music, the international jazz music captivates different human senses and feelings, therefore, Katara as a hub of cultures works to offer all kind of musical culture as boundless human language to boost cultural ties and promote cultural partnerships.”

The festival’s performances will be held in the centrally located courtyard located just behind Katara’s Building 5.

The event has been made possible by the vital sponsorship of Katara Cultural Village, the Qatar Music Academy, Qatar Airways – the official airline of the event – and the Paris-based Défense Conseil International (DCI) is the official partner of the French embassy and the Goethe-Institut Gulf Region of Abu Dhabi is the official partner of the German Embassy.

The event will consist of various evening jazz performances. Each of the seven participating embassies will present one jazz group as a representative of their respective countries. This year’s event will prove even more entertaining as an additional two countries – the Netherlands and Spain – are joining.

The festival will be held with significant support of Qatar Music Academy, in which workshops are scheduled for the benefit of the QMA music students.
