A budding Qatari entrepreneur has established a perfume manufacturing factory in Qatar with the support of Qatar Development Bank (QDB).

The manufacturing facility named ‘The Perfume Factory’ is the first-of-its-kind in the country, which aims to fill the gap in the market for niche products, according to its founder Mohammed Rashid Al Matwi (pictured) ,  The factory also aims to achieve self-sufficiency in the sector and support other startups who intend to establish their own brands to tap growing business opportunities in the Qatar’s vibrant perfume industry.

The factory is an ambitious project, aiming to create and sell new ‘Made in Qatar’ perfumes in the world. It produces a wide range of quality fragrances. The perfumes it makes are thoughtfully designed with high attention to detail and uniqueness.

The perfume factory will offer an exceptional turnkey product experience to customer with passion to develop a brand, driven by entrepreneur spirit and inspire for high quality standards.

“The factory manufactures new perfumes to fill the gap in the market. It also provides services to other perfume manufacturers, individuals and companies,” Al Matwi said in a promotional video posted on the QDB’s official Twitter handle.

He added: “The idea of establishing a perfume factory is new and first-of-its-kind in Qatar. This is an effort to create space for perfume manufacturers and perfume lovers. This will also provide a platform for startups who intend to launch their own brands and create a niche customer-base.”

The factory has launched several brands of perfumes. Some of the prominent brand names include: Doha Skyline, Happy Touch, Hikayat Gharam, Al Bahaar, Al Dana, and Elegant among others. Qatar is one of the key perfume markets in the Middle East for the internationally-renowned perfume brands such as Chanel, Bvlgari, Christian Dior, Gucci, Prada, Versace, Ex Nihilo and many more.

According to industry experts, Qatari customers are very sophisticated and know exactly what they want, but also like to be surprised with new taste and fragrances. It is also believed that Qataris have a natural sense for perfumes, and they know exactly how to mix and match fragrances to make it their own.

“The main idea behind setting up this factory in Qatar is to achieve self-sufficiency, and also to promote local products and establish new brands in the market. This new facility provides a good opportunity to the entrepreneurs who are looking forward to make their own brands and pursue career in the perfume business,” noted Al Matwi .

The perfume factory also offers a wide-range of services such as concept and brand development for personal fragrances, perfumes and tailor-made requests, research, market assessment, and development of new products, product sourcing, product manufacturing and packing. It also does fragrance design and formulation, bottle design and manufacturing, packaging design and printing among and others.

“We have customised solutions and programme for startups. And we are proud to be part of the QDB which is providing all the needful support to SMEs and local businesses to achieve self-sufficiency and economic diversification,” he noted.

The focus is to manufacture new, exclusive and distinct perfume products that are not available in the market, he added.
