Geneva: Ambassador Faisal bin Abdullah Al Henzab, Qatar’s permanent representative to the United Nations and other organisations in Geneva, met Sudanese State Minister Ahmed Abou Zeid on the sidelines of the 30th session of the UN Human Rights Council under way in Geneva.
Zeid expressed gratitude and appreciation to Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Qatari government and people for efforts to support the Sudanese people, Doha Document for Peace in Darfur and fulfilling commitments and pledges towards the reconstruction of Darfur to achieve development, stability and peace in Sudan. Al Henzab stressed Qatar’s support for Sudan’s issues in the council.
Gaza: Ambassador Mohammed Al Emadi, Head of Qatari National Committee for Reconstruction of Gaza Strip, yesterday met UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process Nickolay Mladenov currently visiting the Strip. Al Emadi briefed the UN envoy on progress of Qatari projects in the Strip and entry of related construction materials.
After an inspection tour accompanied by Al Emadi, Mladenov praised Qatari projects, stressing the UN’s commitment to facilitate entry of construction materials for the projects and solve any problem that may face them through contacts with Israeli authorities.
They inspected Qatari projects, including Hamad Hospital for Rehabilitation and Prosthetic Limbs, Hamad Housing Complex in Khan Younis, and Salah Al Din Street, whose third phase was inaugurated yesterday. At a press conference at his office, Mladenov said the reconstruction of Gaza and improvement of the economic situation would enable the Palestinian unity government to perform its responsibilities in the Strip and take control of all crossings.
Riyadh: Chief of Staff of the Qatari Armed Forces Major General (Pilot) Ghanem bin Shaheen Al Ghanem yesterday met Lt. Gen. Abdul Rahman bin Saleh Al Bunyan, Chief of Staff of the Saudi Armed Forces during a working visit to Riyadh. They discussed latest military operations, including units of Qatari armed forces at borders and frontlines under command of coalition forces led by Saudi Arabia as part of efforts to restore legitimacy in Yemen.
Doha: Work will be suspended at Umm Ghuwailina Health Centre’s dental clinic today and tomorrow due to renovations and maintenance works, the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) said in a statement yesterday. Dental patients from the centre can refer to Al Muntazah Health Centre during this period, PHCC said, noting that Umm Ghuwailina centre will resume operations on Sunday.
