Doha: Sidra Medicine will introduce several new women’s clinical services through 2018 and soon be offering robotic surgery for certain gynaecological conditions, said a senior official.
The new services will include female pelvic floor disorder services and reproductive medicine. “More women’s services will become available through 2018, including female pelvic floor disorder services and reproductive medicine. All future clinics will open in a phased manner to allow for quality testing at every stage. Sidra will shortly be offering robotic surgery for certain gynecological conditions,” Peter Morris, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Sidra Medicine, told The Peninsula.
At present the Division of Women’s Services at Sidra Medicine provides mothers facing complex medical conditions access to maternal and fetal care, obstetrics and reproductive medicine and gynaecology.
“It is currently one of the only specialist centres treating pregnant women with fetal complications in Qatar,” said Morris.
The services at Sidra Medicine include support for women with prenatal and postnatal complications, women requiring contraceptive options and women with gynaecological complaints.
“For patients whose pregnancies are considered high-risk, Sidra Medicine physicians can provide preconception counselling and the evaluation and management of all aspects of complicated on-going pregnancies. Additionally, we provide delivery and post-delivery pregnancy services,” said Morris.
Recently, Sidra Medicine launched a number of self-funded packages that are available to women. These include packages covering combined antenatal care and delivery, antenatal care only or delivery care only.
“These packages are meant to give mothers and their families the safety and choice that they need throughout their pregnancy. To get an appointment at women’s services, patients can contact Sidra’s call centre directly during the working hours to get an appointment without being referred by other healthcare provider,” said Morris.
Sidra Medicine is also one of the primary sources for Women’s Perinatal Mental Health Care in Qatar.
“We have created a state-of-the-art, culturally competent, women and family centered system that promotes recovery and wellness for women. The Division includes specialist perinatal psychiatrists, psychologists, psychiatry nurses and psychiatry fellows and will have access to allied health professionals,” said Morris.
Sidra Medicine, a speciality health care organisation for children, young people and women and a member of Qatar Foundation started receiving inpatients since July 15 and its outpatient services were launched on May 1, 2016.
