Under the patronage of Minister of Education and Higher Education, H E Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulwahed Al Hammadi, INJAZ Qatar a non-profit organization and member of Junior Achievement (JA) Worldwide, held an award ceremony to mark the conclusion of Mubadara 2021, the Annual Young Enterprise of the Year Competition virtually via Zoom.
To encourage and support young entrepreneurs in Qatar, the grand final of the 14th edition of Mubadara was attended by the competition’s partners, sponsors, officials, ministry of education representatives, students, parents, volunteers, friends and media representatives.
The Best Company of the Year award, sponsored by ExxonMobil Qatar, was presented to ‘Wakala’ from Qatar University. The Most Innovative product/Service Award, sponsored by Qatar Development Bank was presented to ‘S-Treasury’ from Carnegie Mellon University in Qatarand ‘AtmoBreeze’ from Qatar University.
The Best Marketing Plan Award was presented to ‘Malh’ from College of the North Atlantic and to ‘Kuttap’ from Qatar University. The Best Social Impact Award was won by ‘TheraMe’ and ‘Masaa’ from Qatar University, as the Best Company Report award went to ‘AtmoBreeze’ from Qatar University and ‘Malh’ from College of the North Atlantic. The Best Public Presentation Award won by ‘Wakala’ and ‘Locally’ from Qatar University. The Suitability Award was presented to ‘Aquafarms’ from Northwestern University in Qatar.
In addition, to the People’s Choice Award sponsored by FRAME won by ‘TheraMe’ from Qatar University. Sheikha Hanadi bint Nasser Al Thani, Chairperson of INJAZ Qatar and INJAZ Al Arab, said: “It’s a great milestone that INJAZ Qatar in its 14th year of operation has reached more than 100,000 students throughout most of the universities and schools in Qatar. Mubadara comes as a part of the ongoing efforts to provide our youth with the support they need to develop their skills and capabilities.”
The winner ‘Wakala’ from Qatar University was also awarded seed funding of QR35,000 from Boeing to help support their enterprise in addition to ongoing support and Incubation Award by Qatar Business Incubation Center (QBIC). On his part, Ibrahim Abdulaziz Al Mannai, Executive Director of Advisory & Incubation of QDB, said: “We are always keen to be at the forefront of supporting aspiring, young entrepreneurs and help develop the capabilities of future generations.
To the winners, we wish them the best of luck & extend our support as they represent our country in the Injaz Al-Arab competition.” The winning University team will now represent Qatar at the Regional INJAZ Al-Arab Young Enterprise of the Year Competition to compete against other teams from 14 different countries in the MENA region.
