Ramadan: QF to host prayers and lectures

DOHA: Qatar Foundation (QF) will host religious prayers and lectures as part of its month-long annual Ramadan programme.
Activities at QF’s new mosque in Education City, will be led by well-known scholars. 
The mosque, which rests on five structural pillars and is decorated with Quranic verses, can hold 1,800 people in its indoor prayer halls and outdoor courtyard. 
The mosque in Qatar Faculty of Islamic Studies (QFIS), a college of Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), alongside activities, is in line with QF’s mission to foster an engaged society appreciative of its Islamic and Arabic heritage and keep Islamic values and heritage alive. 
Scholars and Quran readers from around the region, including Dr Omar Abdulkafi, Dr Aaidh Al Qarni and Dr Tariq Al Hawas, will give lectures. The programme will be in Arabic with English interpretation. 
Imams will lead daily Taraweeh prayers. For the first three nights, Sheikh Abdullah Basfar will deliver the prayers. Sheikh Mohammed Al Barrak will follow for the fourth and fifth nights and then Sheikh Mohammed Al Ghurbani. On the 10th night, prayers will be delivered by Sheikh Turki Al Marri, followed by Sheikh Fahad Al Kandari on the 11th night. 
Sheikh Mohammed Al Ghayathin will preside until the 13th night, followed by Sheikh Mohammed Al Luhaidan on the 14th.
On the 15th night, Sheikh Abdullah Al Nemah will lead the prayers, followed by Shiekh Abdul Hadi Kanakeri on the 16th. Sheikh Saad Al Gahmdi will take over for one day, and Sheikh Abdullah Al Nemah will return until the 20th night.
Sheikh Mohammed Al Qahtani will lead the prayers on the 21st and 22nd, followed by Sheikh Mohammed Al Barrak until the 27th night. Sheikh Mohammed Al Qahtani will then lead the prayers until the last evening of Ramadan.
Sheikh Abdulwali Al Arakni and Sheikh Faleh Al Hajri will take the Qiyam prayers, and conclude the recitation of the holy book.
There will be crèche facility for young children of families who wish to attend religious activities.
