Qatar-Canada trade reaches QR633.8m in 2017

DOHA: H E Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassem Al Thani, Minister of Economy and Commerce, met with the visiting  Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Canadian Citizenship, Ahmed Hussen, and his accompanying delegation at his office in Doha yesterday.

During the meeting, they reviewed bilateral relations between the two countries and discussed aspects of joint cooperation, especially in the field of economic, trade and investment. They also exchanged ideas on means of developing and expanding the bilateral cooperation.

Trade between Qatar and Canada reached QR633.8m in 2017. The total number of Canadian companies operating in Qatar has reached 265, of which 12 are wholly owned by the Canadian side and 253 are joint ventures with Qatari companies. The companies are engaged in engineering, construction, engineering consultancy, real estate development, energy and oil and gas services, healthcare, education services, and various other fields.
