Ooredoo & Seib offer insurance for phone screen damage

Ooredoo announced yesterday that customers who purchase selected smartphones will now receive free screen insurance on their devices. To reward customers for choosing Ooredoo, the company is offering them screen damage insurance when they buy selected iPhone or Samsung devices. The insurance is valid for 12 months or until the expiry date of the cover.
The insurance will cover two screen replacements without affecting the device warranty. Customers will only need to pay a QR50 service fee for the replacement.
Talking about the service, Manar Khalifa Al Muraikhi, Director Community & Public Relations, Ooredoo said: “Although we recommend everyone keeps their phone in a protective case, we understand that accidents happen, which is why we’ve partnered with Seib Insurance. Through our partnership, and for the first time in Qatar, customers will get screen damage insurance on selected devices. With the new innovative service, our customers won’t have to worry about screen replacements anymore.”
Commenting on the partnership, Elias Chedid, Seib’s Chief Operating Officer & Deputy CEO said: “We are pleased to be joining hands with Ooredoo, the region’s leading telecommunications provider, for introducing a new service that comes in line with our drive to offer our customers a wide range of innovative corporate and retail insurance solutions that are tailored to meet their specific and ever-changing risk exposures. This is the first time a Qatari insurance company offers its customers mobile screen damage insurance, catering to an existing issue several customers face.”
Considering the cost of screen replacements, this service can make a huge difference. To claim their insurance, customers need to visit their nearest Qatar Mobile Repair Centre (locations mentioned on the insurance certificate) to replace their screen or call Ooredoo Call Centre on 111 for support. Devices can be purchased via one of the many Ooredoo Shops across the country or via Ooredoo’s eShop, an online portal offering a diverse range of devices, services and advanced technology.
