Kuala Lumpur: Malaysia’s economy registered a robust growth of 6.2 percent in the first quarter of 2014 compared with 5.1 percent growth
registered in the fourth quarter of 2013.
The strong economic performance has beaten market and analysts expectation of 6 percent GDP growth as surveyed conducted to economists. Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) in a press statement yesterday said the country’s stellar economic performance in first quarter of 2014 was driven by a stronger expansion in domestic demand and a turnaround in net exports.
The central bank said global economic activity has expanded at a moderate pace in first quarter of 2014. BNM said the US economy in the first quarter experienced a slower growth due to unusually adverse weather conditions. QNA
