Doha Film Institute to screen ‘Casablanca’ on Thursday

Doha: Doha Film Institute (DFI) announced it will screen “Casablanca” on April 21, the second movie to be featured this year under the programme “Cinema Under the Stars.”

On its website, it said: We continue our Ramadan screenings at the picturesque Heenat Salma Farm this weekend with a showing of the undisputed cinematic masterpiece ‘Casablanca’. So why not join us this Thursday for another unmissable Cinema Under the Stars, complete with sweet and savoury snacks or an exquisite Suhoor!

Cinema Under the Stars is a programme of family-friendly screenings in the great outdoors. 

There are two ticket options – option one is film admission with snacks for QR100 per person, and option two is film admission plus Suhoor for QR150 per child (3 to 12 years old), or QR250 per adult. Tickets can be purchased at DFI’s website. Show starts at 9pm.

‘Casablanca’ is a 1942 movie directed by Micheal Curtiz. The American romantic drama film starred Humphrey Bogart, Ingrid Bergman, and Paul Henreid. 

Filmed and set during World War II, it focuses on an American expatriate who must choose between his love for a woman or helping her and her husband, a Czech resistance leader, escape from the Vichy-controlled city of Casablanca to continue his fight against the Germans.

Heenat Salma Farm is an initiative dedicated to holistic methods in agriculture, architecture, and community development. 

Their sumptuous six-course Suhoor menu includes an array of slow-cooked local, Mediterranean and Levantine dishes, all made with their organic farm produce, signature spices, and handpicked aromatic herbs served along with hot and cold beverages. Their snack menu is a curated assortment of nourishing sweet and savoury delicacies and a refreshing beverage. Meanwhile, next week’s screening with be the crowd-pleasing Disney classic “The Jungle Book” (1967).
