Doha: The General Endowment Department at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has launched a project to distribute food baskets to needy families and workers during the holy month of Ramadan.
A total of 1,500 needy families and 2,500 people will benefit from the project ‘Salat Al Ata’, which is being implemented for the second year in a row in cooperation with Hifz Al Naema Food Saving Center.
“'Salat Al Ata' is one of the key initiatives which was launched by General Endowment Department last year in cooperation with Hifz Al Naema Center to distribute food baskets to needy families and workers,” said Director of General Endowment Department, Dr Sheikh Khalid bin Mohamad bin Ghanam Al Thani. Dr Sheikh Khalid was speaking at a virtual press conference organised by General Endowment Department yesterday.
He said that the project will be supported by an endowment fund ‘Al Bar W Al Taqwa’ during the holy month of Ramadan.
In-Charge of Public Relations at Hifz Al Naema Center Yousuf bin Abullah Al Khulaifi thanked General Endowment Department for adopting the project to provide food baskets to needy people.
He said that large number of people benefited from the project since its first launch last year.
CEO of Qatari Forum for Authors, Maryam Al Hammadi, said that that the initiative has been launched on time to support the needy people. She urged people to support ‘Salat Al Ata’ initiative specially at this tough time.
Educational Advisor at Aspire Mohamad Al Anzi said that this is good opportunity for donors to support needy people.
A member of Central Municipal Council (CMC) Abdurrahman Al Khulaifi said that people in Qatar donate generously for supporting needy people in all possible ways.
