Doha, Qatar: The Minister of State for Energy Affairs, the President and CEO of QatarEnergy, H E Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, hosted a special farewell reception in honour of Abdulrahman Ahmad Al-Shaibi, the retiring Executive Vice President for Finance and Planning at QatarEnergy.

In remarks at the reception, Minister Al-Kaabi extended his deep appreciation of the long and dedicated service of Al-Shaibi, his leadership, outstanding contributions, and achievements throughout his service.

Minister Al-Kaabi said: “I would like to take this opportunity to express my deep appreciation and recognition of Abdulrahman Al-Shaibi, who was an example to follow in leadership and dedication throughout his 37-year career in QatarEnergy. I would also like to express my deepest gratitude for his achievements and valuable contributions that helped ensure the development and growth of our business, wishing him all the best.” Al-Shaibi joined QatarEnergy in 1989 as a development trainee (financial analyst). Since then, he has occupied a series of positions including Corporate Financial Analyst, Assistant Project Finance Manager, Project Finance Manager, and Corporate Manager, Project Finance. In August 2009, he was appointed as the Director of Finance and in November 2014 Al-Shaibi was appointed as the Executive Vice President for Finance and Planning.

Al-Shaibi will be succeeded by Mohammed Khalid Al-Ghanim, who brings an extensive experience in corporate finance and strategic planning in QatarEnergy. Al-Ghanim has held several leadership roles, the most recent of which as Manager, Corporate Finance and Controls.

The farewell reception was attended by all the members of QatarEnergy’s executive leadership team.
