Doha: The French Court of Cassation dropped all proceedings against Nasser Al Khelaifi and Yousif Al Obaidly, dismissing all the allegations contained in the case in a way that requires the file to be closed permanently.

Following the decision, beIN Media Group welcomed the decision issued by the French Court of Cassation, while Francis Szpiner and Renaud Semerdjian, lawyers acting on behalf of Al Khelaifi, and Bilott, legal advisor on behalf of Al Obaidly, issued a statement saying: “We take note with satisfaction the ruling of the Court of Cassation in France, which dismisses the International Amateur Athletic Federation (IAAF)-related procedure against Nasser Al Khelaifi and Yousif Al Obaidly in its entirety ... this case evidentially had zero standing & completely flawed merits.”

“Over the past years, we have found that this case is a pure fabrication, and is not based on any legal evidence, and the decision of the Court of Cassation is in accordance with the law”, the statement said, adding, “The rule of law has prevailed, with the matter fully and finally closed with absolutely no case to answer.”

The case began in 2014, and it has not witnessed any change in the facts since then. The case did not relate to Nasser Al Khelaifi or Yousif Al Obaidly but rather much bigger allegations against the top executives of the IAAF.

Also, the investigations were not related to the 2019 World Athletics Championships hosted by Doha, but were only partially linked to the 2017 World Athletics Championships in London.
