Hamad Medical Corporation’s (HMC) Hamad Dental Center recently celebrated the achievement of a significant milestone that saw a group of young clinical associates - all young Qatari dentists - successfully completing the requirement to be enrolled in the Post Graduate Dental Education fellowship specialty programme developed in collaboration with the Faculty of Dentistry of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI).

The programme, the first of its kind in Qatar, saw the 21 Qatari dentists take the Membership of the College (MFD Part 1 and 2) as an entrance exam in October 2016. “The agreement between HMC and RCSI represents the first time RCSI has affiliated with any healthcare organization in the Middle East to provide an internationally accredited dentistry fellowship program of the highest caliber, with the aim of offering specialized dentistry training for Qataris interested in furthering their education and advancing their dental qualifications to internationally recognized standards,” said Prof. Johann De Vries, Dental Director and CEO of Hamad Dental Center.

RCSI’s internationally accredited Pediatric Dentistry Fellowship Program presents Qatari clinicians with the opportunity to pursue a selective graduate education locally, without the requirement of travelling abroad.
