DOHA: Qatari and Turkish businessmen delegation discussed ways to enhance cooperation. The Qatari Businessmen Association (QBA) hosted the Turkish Qatari Business Council delegation yesterday at QBA Premises.
The delegation was headed by Ethem Sancak, the Chairman of the council, SeydaSaglamlar, Vice Chairman, and Ercan Ata, vice chairman, in the presence of Ahmet Demirok, Turkish Ambassador to Doha.
From the Qatari Businessmen Association, the meeting was headed by Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani, QBA Chairman. The meeting was also attended by QBA Members Nasser Rashid Al Kaaby, Nabil Abu Issa, Maqbool Khalfan and Sarah Abdullah, QBA Deputy General Manager.
During the meeting, the parties the possibility of establishing partnerships and alliances between the two parties for the benefit of the two economies and also enhance the trade exchange. in addition, they reviewed the investment opportunities available in both Qatar and Turkey.
At the beginning of the meeting, Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim welcomed the Turkish delegation, stating that the relations between Qatar and Turkey is witnessing a great development at various levels under the auspices of the leaders of the two countries,.
He pointed out that the Qatari private sector witnessed a remarkable development in recent years, allowing Qatari businessmen to take off globally through Investments in viable projects in various countries of the world the European continent and the United States, and he also added, Turkey is now considered an ideal destination for Qatari businessmen because of the close relationships between the two countries and geographical proximity as well as the similarity of customs and traditions, adding that Turkey has an attractive investment climate and many viable investment opportunities
Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim also said that the Qatari businessmen are interested in investing in Turkey, stressing on the readiness of Qatari Businessmen Association to deepen cooperation between the two parties and highlighted the need to focus on young businessmen as the next generation of investors , suggesting that regular joint meetings should be organised between the young businessmen from both Qatar and Turkey to discuss cooperation and the possibility of joint investment not only in Qatar and Turkey but also around the world .
Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim also talked about the importance of cooperation in the tourism sector between the two parties, noting that the Qataris prefer Turkey as a destination for tourism and that this sector should be considered to further develop; so that Turkey becomes the top destination for Qatari tourists
He also confirmed on the importance of cooperation in the industry sector, noting that Turkey has a long history in industry, especially fabrics, and therefore cooperation in industrial fields should take place between the two countries, to serve the economy of both Qatar and Turkey.
Ethem Sancak, the Council Chairman praised the strong ties between Qatar and Turkey and said that these relations should be reflected on the cooperation between businessmen in the two countries, hoping to establish more cooperation and mutual investment.
Sancak also talked about the strategic cooperation that the leaders of the two countries have inaugurated at their last meeting, which was held in Doha. He said that the results of the official talks between the two countries will be reflected positively on the large economic and trade cooperation between them. He also stressed on the willingness of the Turkish side to develop the relations with Qatari businessmen, expressing his hope that this meeting will be a gateway for further cooperation in the coming period and confirmed that Turkish businessmen are ready to visit Qatar on a monthly basis, and he directed the invitation for the Qatari businessmen association to visit Istanbul and see the investment opportunities
In a press statement, Ahmet Demirok, the Turkish Ambassador stated that Qatar and Turkey are considered the closest countries in the world, thus opening the way for the promotion of economic and trade cooperation between them, pointing out that his country offers many facilities to Qatari investors.
He also pointed out that trade between Qatar and Turkey amounted to about $1.3bn in 2014.
He expects the trade to increase by 50 percent in the current year.
