DOHA: The Ministry of Municipality marked World Food Day, observed annually on October 16, by organising a series of educational and awareness activities in several municipalities under the theme “Water is life, water is food. Leave no one behind.” The initiative highlights the Ministry’s commitment to strengthening food security and ensuring access to safe, healthy, and sustainable food for all.
The Doha Municipality, represented by the Health Control Section, hosted a workshop titled “Food Safety” delivered by Dr. Ahmed Al Bajouri. The session discussed key concepts of food defense, major challenges and risks to food safety, and outlined modern inspection and control mechanisms.
Majed Al Hajri, Director of the Municipal Control Department at Doha Municipality, emphasized that the workshop reflects the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the highest food safety standards. He highlighted the Ministry’s achievements in developing regulatory systems, adopting advanced technologies, and its pivotal role during FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
Najla Al Hail, Head of the Health Control Section, noted that the workshop served as an important platform for sharing experiences and learning from best global practices in food defence.
