Doha, Qatar: The College of Sharia and Islamic Studies at Qatar University (QU) inaugurated a four-day conference, titled ‘Readings on Issues of Renewal and Rationalisation in the Thought of Scholar Sheikh Yusuf Al Qaradawi,” with the launch of the Encyclopedia of Complete Works of the Scholar Sheikh Yusuf Al Qaradawi, a comprehensive treasure trove of Islamic scholarship, offering invaluable insights into various aspects of Islamic thought.
The opening ceremony was inaugurated by QU president Dr. Omar Al Ansari, in the presence of several distinguished scholars, researchers and members of the QU community.
Dean of the College of Sharia and Islamic Studies at QU, Dr. Ibrahim Al Ansari, said, “Today we celebrate the inauguration of the ‘Encyclopedia of Complete Works of the Scholar Sheikh Yusuf Al Qaradawi,’ as we mark the opening of the conference, organised by the College of Sharia and Islamic Studies in Qatar University, under the title ‘Readings on Issues of Renewal and Rationalization in the Thought of Scholar Sheikh Yusuf Al Qaradawi.’”
Dr. Al Ansari detailed the impact of Sheikh Al Qaradawi and discussed his profound cultural and religious legacy, as well as his many contributions throughout his life, noting that he was also the founder of QU’s College of Sharia and Islamic Studies. He expressed his appreciation towards the family of the late Sheikh, particularly towards his son Dr. Mohammed Al Qaradawi for their keen interest in the encyclopedia project.
Dr. Al Ansari stressed the academic focus of the conference on various aspects of Islamic knowledge, including Islamic jurisprudence, Quranic studies, Hadith studies, jurisprudential fundamentals, and creed. He emphasised the conference’s importance in deepening Islamic thought and contributing to the academic advancement of the Muslim community. The conference features eight scientific sessions over three days, addressing topics such as renewal concepts, Islamic finance, jurisprudence, women’s issues, civil jurisprudence, and national challenges. Each topic involves discussions on several papers.
