Flag hoisting at the start of the Indian Independence Day celebration.
Doha: Birla Public School (BPS) joined the celebrations of the 76th Indian Independence Day on Monday.
Chairman, Gope Shahani and C V Rappai, hoisted the Indian national flag at the school’s main campus. The proceedings of the cultural programme in the auditorium began by showcasing the recorded flag hoisting ceremony. The chairman, along with the Management Representative, Nevile Lukose graced the occasion.
On behalf of the school, Student Cultural Secretary and MC, Smrithi Haridasan, welcomed all. Academic Director-Principal, Harish Sanduja; Head of Non-Academics, Vinod Kumar KV; Vice-Principals, HMs, Primary Coordinator, HoDs, year coordinators, teachers and parents also joined the event.
While addressing the audience, Principal Harish Sanduja conveyed that Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrates the progress of Indian longevity, maximum literacy, technological advancement, financial self- dependability, progress in nuclear energy, ethnicity, of being the biggest democracy and undoubted greatness in future.
Chairman Gope Sahani opined: “The path forward may be difficult but it is worthwhile to hold on to our great past and carve an inspiring future for the next generation. We are not, ever, alone, we stand in gratitude to the past and responsible for the future.”
Cultural activities were also held showcasing the rich culture and heritage of India. They included rhythmic performances of the young dancers and singers, patriotic speeches and songs were performed by both the faculty and the students. Representing the student body, the Head boy, Vaibhav Krishna and the Head girl Kumari. Ishita Somayaji inspired the gathering on this special occasion, becoming the proud voice of all Birlites.
Sreeram Sabade, MC, delivered words of gratitude. The Student Cultural Secretaries, Smrithi Haridasan and Sreeram Sabade, under the guidance of teachers Jino Koshy and Stanley Eapen, were the MCs who coordinated the programme with admirable flair.
