JAKARTA: Qatar’s will meet Iran in their final; Group B match of the preliminary round of the 2018 Asian Games handball competition today.
Both Iran and Qatar have qualified for the main round after the third team of the group, Malaysia lost both of their first round matches.
Qatar handball team opened its Asian games campaign on high note, thrashing their Malaysian opponents 64-11 in their opening game.
Meanwhile, in the football competition, Qatar are in danger of missing out after Asian heavyweights Uzbekistan defeated Al Annabi 6-0 at the Pakan Sari Stadium yesterday.
The Qatari team is now ranked in the last place with one point while Uzbekistan tops the group with 6 points and qualified to the next round.
Qatar will need to beat Bangladesh on Sunday if they are to reach the Round of 16.
Meanwhile, Qatar basketball players also failed to impress yesterday, and lost to Japan 82-71.
Qatar are now second in Group C behind Japan, and will face Chinese Taipei in their last group match on August 25.
