Awqaf Ministry celebrates graduation of new batch of female Quran teachers

Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs held a graduation ceremony for the fourth and fifth qualifying courses for female Quran teachers recently. 

This event is part of the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to enhance Quranic education, disseminate its sciences among women, and qualify Qatari female cadres to serve and teach the Holy Quran.

These courses aim to empower female teachers with the necessary knowledge and skills to teach the Holy Quran and its Tajweed rules, thereby contributing to the Ministry’s mission of spreading Islamic culture and reinforcing religious values in society.

The ceremony was attended by a number of Ministry officials, along with the graduates and their families. The participants who successfully completed the training programs were honoured.

Addressing the ceremony, Assistant Director of the Women’s Activity Department for Quranic Affairs Lolwa Salem Al-Ghurab highlighting the importance of this role in building a generation with Quranic morals.

She explained that the fourth qualifying course saw 139 female students apply, with 37 accepted (including 7 Qataris), and 21 students completed the requirements and graduated. As for the fifth course, 302 female students registered, 50 were accepted (including 5 Qataris), and 36 students successfully passed the course, achieving a success rate of 75%. She concluded her speech by praying for the graduates’ success and steadfastness in carrying this great message.

Graduate Sara Al-Qashouti delivered a heartfelt speech on behalf of her colleagues, expressing her pride in this blessed moment. She described the graduation as a turning point in their academic and advocacy journey, as the course redefined the role of a Quran teacher not merely as a conveyor of knowledge, but as an educator, a role model, and a builder of souls. 

She extended her deep gratitude to the teachers, supervisors, and coordinators, emphasizing that this stage is just the beginning of a long journey in serving the Holy Quran.
