DOHA: Exit and entry points on Al Rayyan Road to Jassim Bin Hamad Street will be closed for a length of about 250 metres in the vicinity of Al Rayyan Village compound from June 19, the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) said yesterday.
The closure will be in place for three months. Motorists from Olympic Roundabout (Sports Roundabout) heading west will be able to access Jasim Bin Hamad Street by exiting Al Rayyan Road to Al Yamama Street, turning left into Al Rashid Street and right onto Jasim Bin Hamad Street.
Motorists who wish to access Al Rayyan Road via Jassim Bin Hamad Street will have to take a U-turn to access Al Rashid Street and turn right onto Al Yamama Street.
The closure is to complete the northern section of a proposed tunnel that will pass under Al Rayyan Road. The completed intersection will allow eastbound vehicles along Al Rayyan Road to access Jasim Bin Hamad Street through the tunnel, without the need to take a U-turn at Olympic Roundabout. The tunnel will also allow vehicles heading south from Jasim Bin Hamad Street to go directly to Olympic Roundabout without a U-turn at 22nd of February Expressway/Al Rayyan Junction.
