Federation of Indian Nurses Qatar (FINQ) celebrated International Nurses Day on May 12 at Global International Academy with much enthusiasm and zeal.
The event was graced by the presence of several eminent personalities from various organizations, including First Lt Khalid Hussain Al Shamarri and Dr Mohammed Bahauddeen from Community Policing Department, Dr Nabila Al Meer- Dean Qatar University, Angeline Premalatha - Charge 'de Affairs from Indian Embassy, Sr Nasra Al Noobi - the first Qatari Nurse, Sr Enaam Al Naemi - Acting Executive Director of Nursing from HMC, and prominent leaders from IBPC, ICBF, ICC, ISC, and many other associate organizations.
The event had a panel discussion with experienced retired nurses alongside the nurses currently in practice, which looked at the evolution of nursing practices from yesterday to the present and the future. The session was an enriching experience as audience could listen to experienced nurses and learn about their experiences and challenges over the years.
One of the most memorable experiences of the event was the candle lighting ceremony followed by nurses pledge-taking, which helped the audience recreate memories of yesteryear and relive the experiences of Florence Nightingale, who influenced and provided nursing care to the sick with her lamp. The hall looked mesmerizing with lit candles, signifying and remembering the contributions of nurses to the healthcare system.
The celebration continued with the recognition of some senior nurses and the first-ever nursing quiz competition winners.
The evening was then well-spent with breathtaking performances from an exclusively nurses' music band, dance performances from male and female nurses, and kids' performances.

In conclusion, the International Nurses Day celebration was a remarkable event that recognized the contributions of nurses and their essential role in the healthcare system.
It was an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of nurses and honor their dedication, hard work, and selflessness of those who even lost their lives during the pandemic.
