Doha: Qatar Football Association (QFA) announced that the new season 2018/2019 will start on August 3 and will be preceded by Super Cup, which will be held between the winners of Qatar Cup and the Amir Cup on August 1.
QFA also said that the second division season will kick off on September 19, while Qatargas U-23 League will start on September 4.
The start of the season comes early with the aim of giving the Qatari national football team the opportunity to prepare for the next year entitlements, which will start with Asian Championship from January 5 to February 1 in the UAE.
Qatar will participate in Copa America in Brazil in June 2019 and it will be the first participation an Arab national team plays in this tournament.
The current season will conclude following the Amir Cup final between Al Duhail and Al Rayyan on Saturday evening at Khalifa International Stadium.
