DOHA: Municipal inspectors have caught a group of workers for tempering with expiry dates of large quantities of meat products which were meant to be supplied to grocery stores in the Industrial Area for retail.
Some 250kg of Australian meat products, including 205kg of expired products, were seized from their possession. Inspectors from the health monitoring unit of Doha Municipality conducted raids on two separate places where the suspects were found mixing fresh meat products with those whose validity had expired.
The products were being prepared to be supplied to grocery shops for sale throughout the Industrial Area after repackaging and changing the expiry dates. The inspectors reached the sites, tracing the meat transport vehicles.
The violations were recorded under two articles, 3 and 4, of the Law No. 4 of 2014 regulating the monitoring of foodstuff, said a release issued by the Ministry of Municipality and Environment.
