Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change  (MECC) carried out a cleaning campaign in Al Khushaina meadow as part of its efforts to preserve wildlife and plant diversity.

The campaign, supervised by the Wildlife Protection Department, resulted in the removal of large quantities of solid waste, plastic, and other waste that could negatively affect the ecosystem in the meadow.

Separately, responding to a complaint from a citizen, the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change directed a cleaning team to the Dahl Al Misfer area, where the site was completely cleaned of waste.

The Wildlife Protection Department appreciated the efforts of citizens and their cooperation in preserving the environment and reporting violations and called on visitors to maintain public cleanliness and dispose of waste in designated places.

Misfir Cave is located in central Qatar, south of Rawdat Rashid. The rocks in and around the cave are made up of marine sediments that formed in a warm, shallow sea about 40 to 50 million years ago.

The age of the cave is unknown, but must be younger than the rocks that host the cave. Inside the cave you can see two main sections of rock: the Damman Formation and the Rus Formation.

The base of the Damman Formation is characterised by a “marker bed” called the Rujm Aid. The term “marker bed” is used for a section of rock that is easily recognised in a visible exposure, such as along a cliff or in a cave.
