Doha: Qatar Shell’s Tafawoq Project Management Centre of Excellence has been honoured as the best corporate social responsibility initiative in Qatar’s energy sector at the inaugural Dar Al Sharq CSR Awards.
Qatar Shell and Qatar Football Association’s Koora Time initiative also picked up the Dar Al Sharq CSR Award for best sports initiative.
The awards ceremony, which featured 30 firms was held under the patronage of Sheikh Abdulla bin Saoud Al Thani, Governor, Qatar Central Bank Governor, in the presence of the Minister of Youth and Sports H E Salah bin Ghanem bin Nasser Al Ali.
Tafawoq, founded by partners Qatar Petroleum (QP), Hamad Bin Khalifa University and Qatar Shell, was recognised for continuously contributing to the project management community and supporting Qatar in its delivery of an extraordinary portfolio of capital investment projects in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.
“We are committed to supporting Qatar National Vision 2030 by working with Qatari partners to create and deliver long-term contributions to society that generate measurable social impact,” said Mohammed AbuJbara, CSR Manager, Qatar Shell, after receiving the award from the Minister.
Tafawoq is built on the principles of Shell’s Project Academy, an internationally recognised and accredited programme, which ensures that project professionals receive executive education and training opportunities, and draws on QP’s experience in building large-scale capital projects.
Koora Time is a five-year sustainable initiative to improve the health and wellbeing of youth through football. It provides each child with an additional 96 hours of physical activity over 24 weeks.
