Posco steel plant gets go-ahead

New Delhi: The $12bn Posco steel plant in Odisha, the largest FDI in India, yesterday finally got the go ahead as South Korea and India signed five agreements including in defence and space. The agreements were signed in the presence of South Korean President Park Guen-hye and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. President Park said while the Posco plant had been delayed, both sides should ensure smooth sailing for the 8 million tonnes per annum project coming up in Jagatsinghpur in Odisha. India has agreed to provide visa on arrival to South Koreans.  Manmohan Singh said both sides have concluded talks on double taxation avoidance convention and were exploring the possibility of setting up a Korean industrial park in India. 
Jet Airways loses second chief

MUMBAI: Jet Airways said that its chief executive had resigned — the second to do so in the past seven months. “Garry Kenneth Toomey, chief executive officer of the company has resigned with immediate effect,” said a statement from Jet on the Bombay Stock Exchange website, without giving a reason. Jet’s chief financial officer, Ravishankar Gopalakrishnan, will take charge as interim chief until a new CEO is appointed, the statement added. 
Third man held in Danish tourist case 
New Delhi: Delhi Police nabbed a third man suspected to have been involved in the gangrape-cum-robbery of a 51-year-old Danish tourist in the national capital two days ago, officials said. Raju alias Bajji, 25, was arrested near Nizamuddiun Railway Station in south Delhi, police said. Bajji was among eight people who raped the 51-year-old Danish tourist at knife-point near New Delhi Railway Station, after she sought directions to her hotel in Paharganj. Two men arrested earlier have been remanded in police custody till January 20. Five other attackers are on the run, police said.  Agencies
